AMAZING RAINBOW CAKE RECIPE, HOW TO MAKE RAINBOW CAKE FOR CHILDREN

This colorful cake is perfect for a child’s birthday party, or anytime you want to make a big impression.
INGREDIENTS:
dough:
400 g (3 1/8 cups) plain flour
3 spoons of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
250 g (2 cups) butter, room temperature
300 g (2 1/4 cups) granulated sugar
4 large egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  250 ml (2cups) milk, room temperature
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple food coloring

frosting:
500 g (4 cups) mascarpone cream
250 g (2 cups) butter, room temperature
500 g (4 cups) icing sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

RECIPE:
Preheat oven to 350 F (175 degrees C)
Prepare 9″ (23 cm) cake form
Stir flour with baking powder
In the bowl of an electric mixer mix butter, sugar and milk.
Whip egg whites until hard peaks
Divide the dough into 6 portions.
Add color to each portion and stir until desired shade is reached.
Each cake bake 15 minutes
Remove the cake from the oven and transfer to a wire rack and let cool.

Place the purple layer on the cake plate.
Spread frosting on the bottom layer (purple).
Repeat process with blue, green, yellow, orange and red layers, in that order.
Spread a thin layer of frosting on the sides of the cake (crumbling layer) and place in the fridge for 15 minutes.
Spread the remaining frosting on top of the crumbling layer.
Decorate the cake with a rainbow made out of candies

  7. I use gel food coloring by Sugarflair, I buy them from an eshop. Many eshop offer them, just type Sugarflair.

  11. Hi, sorry for the late reply, I missed your comment. The ingredients as listed are for the "larger batch". Then I divided evenly, and color each layer separately. The layers are about 1 cm high. If you want to make the layers thicker then you have to add more ingredients.
